Universality of thermal hadron production in pp, pp̄ and e+e−collisions

چکیده

It is shown that the hadron production in high energy pp, pp̄ and eecollisions, calculated by assuming that particles originate in hadron gas fireballs at thermal and partial chemical equilibrium, agrees very well with the data. The temperature of the hadron gas fireballs, determined by fitting hadron abundances, does not seem to depend on the centre of mass energy, having a nearly constant value of about 170 MeV. This finding supports a universal hadronization mechanism in all kinds of reactions consisting in a parton-hadron transition at critical values of temperature and pressure. To be published in the proceedings of the XXXIII Eloisatron Workshop on Universality features in multihadron production and the leading effect October 19-25 1996, Erice (Italy)

Thermal hadron production in high energy collisions

It is shown that hadron abundances in high energy ee, pp and pp̄ collisions, calculated by assuming that particles originate in hadron gas fireballs at thermal and partial chemical equilibrium, are in very good agreement with the data. The freeze-out temperature of the hadron gas fireballs turns out to be nearly constant over a large center of mass energy range and not dependent on the initial c...

Complementary studies on N ∗ from e + e − , pp and pp̄ collisions

Complementary to the conventional experimental studies on N∗ from πN and γN reactions, the ee, pp and pp̄ collisions can give novel insights into these N∗ resonances. While the ee collisions through production and decay of vector charmonium ψ provide a nice isospin filter for a simultaneously study of N∗, ∆∗, Λ∗, Σ∗ and Ξ∗, the pp collisions should be the best place for producing those ∆ with la...

Trends in multiparticle production and some “ pre - dictions ” for pp and PbPb collisions at LHC

Based on trends seen at lower energies we “predict” the multiplicities and pseudorapidity distributions of particle density and elliptic flow that will be seen in PbPb and pp collisions at the LHC. We argue that, if these predictions turn out to be correct, either these quantities are insensitive to the state of matter created in high energy heavy ion collisions or the observed simplicity and u...

Testing the Universality of Fragmentation Functions

Using fragmentation functions for charged pions, charged kaons, and (anti)protons recently extracted from experimental data of e+e− annihilation at the Z-boson resonance and at centre-of-mass energy √ s = 29 GeV, we perform a global study of inclusive charged-hadron production in pp̄, γp, and γγ collisions at next-to-leading order in the parton model of quantum chromodynamics. Comparisons of our...
